Hi

About me: When I was 5, I told my mom to teach me how to make French Toast. When I was 9, I became obsessed with her collection of cookbooks and would obsessively read through them the way most girls my age were obsessively reading through Tiger Beat. When I was 14, I took a cooking class with my best friend and learned how to sub cottage cheese for ricotta in Lasagna. I knew I'd been duped.

My name is Celia. I live in beautiful Oakland with a husband and a kid. I used to cook for paychecks. Now I do other stuff for paychecks and cook for hugs, kisses, and high fives.

About Soup Club: I started this very special and elite club through my old blog back in 2011. It was a great way to share recipes and get me back into the habit of cooking after my total loss of time management skills once I had my kid. I decided the idea was grand enough to warrant its own space, and that's how and when this blog was born. Here, you'll find soup and some other stuff, too.

Disclaimer: I'm a decent recipe writer at best, and it's mostly because I'm an OK recipe follower at best. My recipes are written to be used as guides. Always going by the book is no fun, and I truly believe that experimentation in the kitchen leads to confidence in the kitchen, which always leads to the best food. Don't be afraid to tweak the recipes you find here; you might surprise yourself and end up with something brilliant.
